- MUNETUKE -

Hamazaki is planning to wrap one's precious things to make the ultimate MUNETSUKE
MUNETSUKE is one of the smallest wearable objects that Ken Hamazaki has been working on with the theme of "wrapping" things. He's been wearing a MUNETSUKE with a wrapped photo of his eyeball when he was 20 years old. The word MUNETSUKE was created by the artist himself which was inspired by the word "NETSUKE" (miniature sculptures that were invented during the Edo period to serve a practical function). The word is a pun. "mune" means chest - and it's combined with the word "netsuke" which makes "MUNETSUKE", a netsuke for your chest. Netsuke evolved over time from being strictly utilitarian into objects of great artistic merit and an expression of extraordinary craftsmanship. Such objects have a long history reflecting the important aspects of Japanese folklore and life. Today, the art lives on, and some modern works can command high prices in the UK, Europe, the USA, Japan and elsewhere. Inexpensive yet high quality reproductions are available in museums and souvenir shops. And that's where Hamazaki is trying to get to with the concept of "MUNETSUKE", it's an on going project!

- LIFE UNIFORM -

LIFE UNIFORM is the canvas to place the MUNETSUKE, and is also an everyday uniform for someone who has the freedom of thought and comprehension of  "Time, Place and Occasion".

LIFE UNIFORM is for all occasion, and it never gets old!
Hamazaki was inspired by the history of tuxedos, where an informal red tuxedo worn by an American at an Edwardian Era party had forever created an impact to men's formal wear. Hamazaki started to create a jacket that can be worn at any occasion, and that's what he calls "LIFE UNIFORM." For comfort, he chose stretchy fabric, and took the design idea from US flight jackets. It's also reversible, so when you turn the jacket inside out, it becomes a semi-formal suit jacket. The LIFE UNIFORM could be used as a canvas and become a multi-functioning jacket by placing Hamazaki's original MUNETSUKE. Hamazaki has been wearing his "Red LIFE UNIFORM" to attend weddings, reception parties, and many other occasions. He believes each body only needs minimal amount of clothing and art in the 21st century.

It was terrible disaster happened on East Japan at 11 th of March. It was horrible, and we can not imagine how victims are feel and suffering from. We sends our condolences to everybody of struck. And we always pray for.

While confronting such a national crisis, We feel that how is it powerless with the art.

But, as an artist, I produced my art-work to change this PINCH(crisis) to PINK(great future colored rose) as a new value.

My friend started-up the project call HOPE FOR JAPAN immediately after the earthquake. It is for urgent support & revival support. I try to produce charity-works with starting this project. And I wish it will be some help and hope to them. It's not so much dig deal, but that is all I can do & have to.

It is “ Dameyan ” - art. (means “ powerless ” ) , but you will enjoy this art is my hope and pleasure.

This is an exhibition by Mr. Kei Sawada who is playing as a character designer based on KOBE.
Wonderful “ Sawadarland ” will appears at Ken Hamazaki Red Museum!!
His designed figure-dolls were sold in the all over the world and His art-works were published serially in a newspaper called “ hobo nikkann ITOI newspaper ”
This is a little part of his worked experience. He have many interesting career!

He will represent his new world with Chikage as a model from Gothic & Lolita world.

“ Honekko girls ” are one of main work of this exhibition.
This is very interesting work that you can have your own character with yourself.

2011.February Exhibition
By 「David Bateman」 and this is his first solo exhibiton in Japan.

You will be a witness of new gifted talent with art, and you can enjoy this echibition.

He have been painting for around 15 years now. He began at school and then attended Art school graduating in 2004. After that He worked in London for several years as a freelance artist painting and customizing clothes in Camden market. His talent is colorul !!
We will have main in stencil & collage art work with retrospectiove, rough sence and contrasted with prominent stencil at this exhibition.
Please find your own feeling with his art works and acriciate his world.

I'm back for the third time!!

“KASEKICIDER” is a painter and a rapper.
He is still the charisma of the Japanese Rap music scene.

He is back in Osaka, and he brought his new work.

He has been publishing “HUGTON” as “The Independent Comic”.
He has published seven volumes so far.

We will exhibit more than twenty works with “HUGTON” dressed like various
Japanese characters.

In the 1970s in London, There were lots of unemployed people became of the depression.
Then, Radical punk culture was born from young people who were dissatisfied with society.
It became a great influence on society as well as on fashion and art.

The symbol was “The Sex Pistols” as the punk culture, and Jamie Reid handled all of their visual design.
We’ll introduce his fantastic works to you.

Also, we’ll have an exhibition related to “The Sex Pistols”, to pay tribute to the memory of the late Malcolm Maclaren who passed away this April.
